Chris ‘Buddha’ Handy
Chris Handy is a former Queensland and Australian Wallaby representative with 54 and 6 Caps respectively, the larger than life radio and television sporting commentator draws a crowd wherever he speaks.
One of a very few honoured Australian’s to have lifted the Bledisloe Cup on two occasions after victories against Trans-Tasman rivals the New Zealand All Blacks.
Having commentated the television coverage of every world cup, viewers have become accustomed to hearing ‘Buddha’ calls of “Go You Good Thing!” every time a Wallaby with the ball heads towards the opposition’s goal line.
Chris started out as an accountant (believe it or not!) and once he discovered rugby then that has been the nucleus of his career ever since as the 600th Wallaby.
Buddha’s hobbies include donating time to worthy charities, drinking Bundy and XXXX, Rugby Touring, catching and eating mud crabs.
One of the highlights of the big man’s life was when he walked the Kokoda Track in 2002.
